Sonido Gallo Negro, the psychedelic cumbia ensemble from Mexico City, brought their electrifying fusion of amazonian rhythms and esoteric visuals to San Antonio on April 12, 2025. The event, titled "Noche de Cumbia San Antonio Edition," marked the band's first performance in the city and was held at The Rah Rah Room.

Known for their blend of 1970s Peruvian cumbia, garage rock energy, and hypnotic live visuals by Argentinian artist Dr. Alderete, Sonido Gallo Negro delivered a performance that captivated the audience. Their unique sound, featuring electric guitars, eccentric organs, analog synthesizers, theremin, and flute, created a mesmerizing atmosphere that had attendees dancing until the end of the night.

The San Antonio show was part of their 2025 tour celebrating the band's 15th anniversary, which includes performances across Europe and the U.S. With a history of touring over 20 countries and more than 50 cities, Sonido Gallo Negro continues to be one of the most culturally representative groups emerging from Mexico City.
