Poppy and Pvris hit the Aztec Theater last night for the ninth date of their Godless/Goddess tour with support from Tommy Genesis.

Tommy embraced the San Antonio crowd playing some tracks from her recent World On Fire album. The crowd absolutely loved her hooks and style as she proceeded to play some unreleased material. The Canadian rapper ended her set freestyling before walking off stage.

Next up was Pvris, a trio consisting of Lynn Gunn, Brian MacDonald and touring drummer Denny Agosto. The stage was decorated with ferns and moss to promote their new EVERGREEN album, released last July. While most of their set consisted of tracks from EVERGREEN, they also played classics from their White Noise and Use Me albums.

Poppy started their set with an ominous roar that echoed throughout the theater. Behind the stage, a prayer was projected on the screen where Poppy could be heard reciting it as spectators chanted along in unison. Upon completion, Poppy appeared on the stage in a black leotard and heavy boots. She began her set with BLOODMONEY followed by Church Outfit. Poppy’s unorthodox style of mixing pop elements with heavy metal/harsh noise was sacrilege to some but a blessing to others. Her ability to transition from soft vocals to ear-splitting shrieks enthralled her spectators. Poppy mostly played songs from her I Disagree and Flux albums. If the Aztec Theater was a church, Poppy was the priestess, the Godless Goddess.
