Mosh Pits and Nostalgia: The Ghost Inside and Underoath Rock San Antonio

Metalcore enthusiasts witnessed the return of The Ghost Inside on Friday night as they and Underoath brought their co-headlining Summer Tour to the Boeing Center at Tech Port. The bands were also accompanied by hardcore heavy hitters, We Came as Romans and the newly-formed band, Better Lovers.

Underoath electrified the mosh pitting crowd, delivering a powerhouse performance that spanned their entire discography. The setlist covered a range of tracks, from the anthemic chants of Hallelujah, featured on the bands latest release, Voyeurist, to the mosh-inducing intensity of Writing on the Walls from their 2007 album Define the Great Line. Nostalgia imbued the arena as former scene kids raised their voices to classics like It's Dangerous Business Walking Out Your Front Door and A Boy Brushed Red Living in Black and White, transporting the audience back to the year 2004.

Closing out the night was The Ghost Inside who, after a near seven year hiatus due to injuries and losses resulting from a bus accident in 2015, came back swinging bigger than ever showing their fans their lyrics are not all talk. Powerful and inspiring songs such as Mercy, Avalanche, and Engine 45 ignited the audience, who eagerly surfed their way to the front barriers and created multiple swirling moshing circles in their midst.

Overall it was one night to remember, underscoring precisely why San Antonio remains a coveted tour stop for bands of this caliber. The love and support this city brings to the table is unparalleled.
