San Antonio Takes SXSW 2025
As the world’s largest music, film, and technology festival approaches, announcements are rolling in about the performers at this year’s South by Southwest. From March 10-15, several talented acts from San Antonio will showcase their unique sounds during the music portion of the festival. Here’s a closer look at the local artists representing the Alamo City:

Caroline Hale | Country
At only 21 years old, Caroline Hale's melodious voice, combined with her soft delivery of poignant acoustic ballads, has earned her a dedicated following in the indie folk scene. Like her classic country forebears, Hales’s lyrics weave tales of love found and lost.

Llamativa
Llamativa | Latin
Llamativa is a band that embodies the strength, resilience, and beauty of Chicana and Latina identity through music, creating a sound that is as much about cultural pride as it is about making people dance. The eight-piece all-female band weaves together genres like cumbia, salsa, tejano, cha-cha, bolero, and baladas.

Los Juanos | Latin
Los Juanos music reflects a unique fusion of old and new Mexican and American traditions, mixing conjunto, corrido, and cumbia norteña with modern elements of dream pop, psychedelic, and punk. Their style crosses cultural boundaries and offers a fresh take on classic genres.

Night Ritualz | Post Punk
Spearheaded by San Antonio native Vincent "Vinny" Guerrero, Night Ritualz draws on '80s dark wave classics like New Order and Depeche Mode, merging them with post-hardcore guitars and tejano influences. Their music combines dark synth beats and moody bilingual lyrics testifying to Vinny’s personal struggles and evoke a unique mix of sadness and vitality.

Spy MC | Rap
Born Jose Angel Perez in San Antonio, Texas, is a rapper known for his rapid delivery and eclectic style, blending drum and bass influences with hip-hop. Since launching his solo career in 2006, he has released multiple projects, including his 2020 debut album PATIENCE, and continues to produce new music through his platform, Loud Mouth League.

Texas String Assembly | Americana
Texas String Assembly incorporates classical, folk, and bluegrass influences to create a unique Americana sound. Since their debut album Doggabone (2022), which The Austin Chronicle hailed as a “raucous, jamming debut,” the band has gained recognition, toured internationally, and earned accolades as one of Austin’s top bluegrass/folk acts. Daniel Miller of Daniel Miller and the Red Roses, is a San Antonio native who adds his virtuosity on violin to their performances.

Vanita Leo | Latin Pop
A second-generation Tejano vocalist, Vanita Leo has been stretching the limits of cumbia, warping elements of R&B and electronic synths into eminently catchy songs of love and loss. Her latest track, Suerte o Destino, is an effervescent pop of color to the cultural resurrection of boleros.

San Antonio’s premier all-original latin indie orchestra has a flair for electrifying live performances. Volcan is known for their fusion of cumbia, salsa tropical caribeño, and indie rock. Anyone who’s been to one of their live performances is surely to learn a thing or two about dancing cumbia.

Xavier Omar | R&B
SXSW veteran and R&B artist Xavier Omar reshapes modern R&B, weaving themes of love, relationships, and faith into his music. Beloved by his growing fanbase, his work has even earned a spot on Barack Obama's Favorite Music of 2022 playlist with the song, Feelings 4 You.
