Interpol makes an appearance at the Alamo City

Interpol ripped through the Boeing Center at Tech Port this week for their Interpoleros Tour. This marked Interpol’s second visit to the Alamo City since their formation in 1997. Supporting acts included Argentinian Post Punk band El Mató A Un Policía Motorizado and Rio Grande Valley shoegaze band Glare.

Glare’s come up has been astronomical in recent months. The shoegaze band from the Valley has conquered the stages of some of the biggest festivals, including Sick New World and South by Southwest. They recently completed a tour run with acts such as Gel, Panchiko, and Alien Boy, to name a few. Their immersive set captivated the crowd and were in for a surprise at the intensity of their songs as most if not all their songs erupted in cheers from the audience. Definitely a band to keep an eye out for.

El Mato A Un Policia Motorizado is currently on their own tour through the American Southwest promoting their new album Super Terror. Although relatively unknown in the U.S., the Argentinian quintet has become a staple at music festivals across Latin America, including Pal’ Norte, Tecate Comuna, Corona Capital, and Lollapalooza in South America, while also garnering an enormous following in Europe. Their set included heart piercing songs such as “El Tesoro,” “La Noche Eterna,” and “El Magnetismo” along with tracks from their new album.

Interpol, the post punk group from New York headlined the show. Previous tours in the past has landed them in other cities such as Austin, Houston, and Dallas but this show marked their second appearance in Bexar County. The last time Interpol played was when they played Josabi’s in Helotes back in 2011. Dressed in suits, the band played all the hits such as “Obstacle 1,” “C’mere,” “Rest My Chemistry,” and “Evil,” along with other songs from albums Antics, Our Love to Admire and Turn On the Bright Lights. The energy from the crowd and band created an amazing atmosphere that was further amplified by their star-bursting background.
