Gary Clark Jr. set the Aztec Theatre ablaze on Friday night with his signature blend of blues, rock, and soul, playing to a sold-out crowd as part of his tour supporting JPEG Raw, his 2024 Warner Records release. The Austin-born guitarist and singer, a multiple Grammy Award winner, has performed alongside legends like Eric Clapton and opened for The Rolling Stones, cementing his place as one of modern blues’ most compelling torchbearers. From the first wail of his guitar, Clark’s performance seamlessly blended searing solos, hypnotic riffs, and deep, groove-laden rhythms with virtuosic precision.
Opening the night was 18-year-old Nashville guitarist Grace Bowers, a rising blues-rock artist. Despite her young age, Bowers has already gained attention for her impressive playing and deep musicality.
