Sonidos de Lejos: Rubio Enchants San Antonio at SXSW Spillover Show

Rubio, the musical project of Francisca Straube, headlined Vinilious’ SXSW spillover show, Sonidos de Lejos, at Paper Tiger last night. Having started her career as a drummer in punk and indie bands, Straube emerged as a soloist in 2015, blending elements of pop, electronic, ambient, hip-hop, and ethnic music like dembow into her distinct sound. Her latest album, "Venus & Blue," released last year, offers a cinematic exploration of melancholic "blue" themes juxtaposed with the warmth of "venus" motifs, delving into themes of joy, love, and warmth.

Rubio has already graced international audiences performing at events, including KEXP’s “El Sonido Live” showcase and festivals like Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound, and SXSW.
