Gallery: Lee Fields Brings Soulful Magic to the Carver Community Cultural Center

Soul music luminary Lee Fields graced the stage at the Carver Community Cultural Center on Saturday night, delivering a performance that was both powerful and deeply moving. Opening the evening were Monophonics, showcasing their unique blend of horn-powered, psychedelic-infused R&B.

Built in 1918 as San Antonio’s first Black theatre, the Carver has long been a cornerstone of African-American art and culture. Over the years, it has hosted legends like Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong, making it the perfect venue for Fields’ timeless sound.

With a career spanning over five decades, Fields has been hailed by Rolling Stone for his “classic American soul sound” and is often regarded as the greatest pure soul singer alive today. His voice, like liquid gold, combines the grit of vintage soul with the emotion and energy that have made him a pillar of the genre’s revival.
